Historically, there has been a separation between public and private and, according to the anthropologist Teresa del Valle, ‘by limiting spaces, most women are almost exclusively destined for domestic use’, losing the ability to socialize and to participate in decision making, since these, in general, occur in the public space. For the author, spaces, in many cases, serve to separate, hierarchize, include, exclude … linking these types of spaces to the ways in which a society elaborates and expresses its conception of power and, in particular, its systems of gender. Likewise, the architects Susana Torre and Dolores Hayden affirm that this separation between public space and domestic space can contribute to strengthening relations of submission and, for this reason, both consider important to rethink the relationship between the different types of spaces and the occupation of some with the supposed characteristics of the others …
